Escape the dungeon

In TinyKeep players embrace the role of a hopeless prisoner held deep in a forgotten dungeon who one day wakes up to find themselves mysteriously released. Their savior is nowhere to be seen, but the cell door is broken and ajar, tempting them with the sweet scent of freedom. With nothing but a flickering lantern and a strange letter left behind by their in-mate, they must venture into the darkness and escape TinyKeep!

Lure monsters into traps, knock over fire torches to set furniture alight and set prisoners free to help you on your way. Enemies will work together in groups to hunt you down, and some will flee from threats. You can also take advantage of monster rivalries and lead them against each other, while you wait behind a corner as the resulting chaos ensues. There are many ways to survive in TinyKeep.

"We wanted to create a game that feels alive, where the dungeon's inhabitants have their own motivations and needs, and situations are created that have never been seen before in a game of this genre." - Phi Dinh, founder of Phigames.

History and lore

Many years ago, in an age lost in the mists of time, one programmer called Phi Dinh set to work on creating his dream game - a casual 2D roguelike. A simple prototype was lovingly crafted, and he and his friends spent many sleepless nights exploring the depths of the procedurally generated chaos. Thus, TinyKeep was born.

But it wasn’t enough.

Phi felt the game needed something more. He wanted interesting monsters and better graphics. He wanted a twist on the tired old RPG mechanics that plagued so many titles in the genre. Ben was recruited to help refine the concept and writing, and talented artists, sound designers and composers were soon discovered. Within 2 months, a proof-of-concept was developed, and the team launched the project on Kickstarter.

On May 31st 2013 at 5:33am, TinyKeep was successfully funded by 802 loyal dungeoneers. At long last, Phi can now finally achieve his vision and make TinyKeep into the game that it deserves to be!

The fellowship of eight

Like any solid party of adventurers, TinyKeep is a collaboration of 8 very passionate individuals.

Creator, project manager and programmer. Passionate about coding from an early age, it has always been Phi’s dream to create a game like TinyKeep.

Previously employed by a leading digital agency in the UK, Phi has industry experience in “advergames” and online multiplayer gambling. However, his real passion is in developing the kind games he loves to play himself.

Concept designer and writer. Ben joins the TinyKeep team with his illustration background and gaming experience.

Ben is rarely seen without a sketchbook, always coming up with new, crazy monsters and innovative game mechanic ideas.

A long time player of popular MUDs and Tabletop RPGs, his ideas for monster behaviours formed the basis of TinyKeep’s AI.

Ben’s artwork and game designs can be found on his PolyDucks portfolio.

Sound designer. Based in the Greater Manchester area, Jey is an extremely talented sound designer specializing in game audio.

A relative newcomer to the team, Jey is hugely passionate about computer games in general and he has already significantly improved TinyKeep's sound design. His expertise in crafting effects has helped bring a new level of immersion and responsiveness to the gameplay.

You can check out Jey's showreel on his portfolio website.

Composer and virtual orchestrator. Currently studying Music Technology at Huddersfield University, Will is also working on several game soundtracks including the upcoming RPG Kyn.

Will has already done an excellent job with the TinyKeep Main Theme, and we can't wait to hear more!
